What is GOTS (Global Organic Textiles)?

GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is the world's leading textile processing standard for organic fibers, backed by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.

What does GOTS certification cover?
GOTS certification encompasses:

Processing, manufacturing, packaging, labeling, trading, and distribution of all textiles made from at least 70% certified organic natural fibers

Both environmental and social criteria

All chemical inputs such as dyes and auxiliaries used

What are the key GOTS environmental criteria?

Organic fiber content must be at least 70% (95% for "organic" label grade)

No toxic heavy metals, formaldehyde, aromatic solvents, GMOs, or nanotechnology

All chemicals must meet requirements for biodegradability and toxicity

Wastewater treatment required for all wet-processing units

Energy and water usage must be monitored and minimized
